Prince Harry has recently faced some tension from a representative of the Queen regarding his safety.
The BBC writes that opposing the decision, the Duke of Sussex’s lawyer said that he was not aware of this situation and that the decision was “materially biased” by hiding key information.
Harry lost full protection after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
Without a guarantee of police protection, he believes it is too dangerous to bring his family from the US to visit the UK.
This court action is still at an early stage, as the decision will be handed down many weeks later.
However, the letter and statements submitted to the court this Thursday are the headlines of the day because of the details and in particular what were described as “significant tensions” between Prince Harry and the Queen’s private secretary, Sir Edward Young.
This points to the breakdown in relations between the Sussexes and the royal family before they left the country.
Prince Harry has previously argued that his private security team cannot replicate the protection work of police in Britain, with their access to local intelligence and legal powers.
He and Meghan have rarely visited since their move to California. On a visit in July 2021, the duke’s car was followed by photographers as he left a charity event.
The Sussexes also stopped by the UK in April, meeting the Queen on her way to the Invictus Games and attending the Platinum Jubilee service of thanksgiving last month.
