Every day more and more Albanian businesses are facing the lack of labor force, which seems to be leading the economy towards collapse.
Under these conditions, and why at a higher cost, Albanian business is hiring foreign workers, mainly from countries such as Bangladesh and India.
“I am from Bangladesh. We have chosen to work in Albania because this work is important for us, to help our families. We need this money. There are 13 people from Bangladesh in this factory. We are satisfied with the salary even though we are beginners, above all people are very friendly with us”.
The need for workers is not allowing Albanian businesses to expand their capacities. Despite the fact that salaries have improved again, Albanians prefer to work abroad.
Hiring workers from abroad is seen as a temporary solution by many subjects, especially those of production and industry. In the area of the former metallurgical plant in Elbasan, most of the businesses are now turning to the international labor market.
