In the health center no. 2 in Tirana, about 60 rapid tests were performed in the early hours of the day, the last one was for the two-year-old girl, which was positive.
Sonila Brati, pediatrician: You will keep the child with antipyretics for the temperature, with paracetamol and ibuprofen every 4 hours and every 6 hours. I’ll give you a multivitamin, and on Monday you’ll have a blood test and a PCR.
“I am currently with Covid. I just took the test myself and came out positive. I have symptoms, mild fever, sore throat. I am vaccinated with one dose. My daughter and I were infected. We will close ourselves at home, and we will follow the doctor’s advice. We have nothing else to do”, says the mother of one child.
Health Center number 2 in Tirana does not receive visits, even though it is the weekend. This center offers health services to 44 thousand patients. Dr. Sonila Brati covers ages from 0 to 18 years old.
Sonila Brati: We already have Covid in adults and children and the cases are increasing day by day. At least 1 or 2 children a day are affected by Covid-19. Both Covid and viruses dominate. The symptoms are the same in both children and adults. High temperatures reaching 39 and 40 degrees. Then we go from a viral situation to an overlay of a bacterial situation. Upper respiratory tract infections continue to be present at a high rate. Rotten tonsils have dominated for almost a 2-month period, as they say in the popular language. Ear infections, runny noses continue to be present. There are also cases of bronchitis and bronchopneumonia, but fewer this period. Gastroenteritis, i.e. diarrhea and vomiting are present in both children and adults. These are due to high temperatures, consumption of stale food, any poisoning, or even any virus that is present.
