Fiks Fare denounced the actions of the employees of the car blocking point in Vlora, who “massacred” a citizen’s vehicle.
Erald Hodaj complained to the editors of the investigative show, who initially sent Fiksi some videos of the car inside the blocking point. From the footage it seemed that the car was destroyed, without tires, without other parts, even placed under several other cars. After sending these images, the Fiks Fare group traveled to Vlora, where the blocked cars are kept.
Initially, Eraldi shared the whole ordeal of his vehicle, for which he says he was surprised to see that his vehicle, a BMW with license plate AA 185 KC, which was blocked to a friend in 2019, was destroyed. He said that at that point the vehicle was about 2 and a half years old and cars are confiscated after 10 years. “The vehicle is owned by me. It was blocked by a friend that I had left it with. A few days ago, I received the unlocking decision from the Prosecutor’s Office of Vlora and I went to see what had happened to that vehicle”says Eraldi, while that moment was surprising.
“I made the decision and came to see the vehicle. When I saw it, my car was under a huge pile of cars. They stole the tires, discs, took the parts. Everything. The car was in working condition, it came here on its own two feet. Now I don’t know him anymore. The site is guarded 24/7, but not for my car. I left it to the state, but the state has not preserved it” says Eraldi, while explaining that he doesn’t know how to act now.
After the complaint, Eraldi goes to see the vehicle again, which is in the same place, at the traffic jam point. He talks to a police officer, who tells him that cars in this country are stored for up to 10 years. But when he tells him what happened to his vehicle, the policeman is surprised. “Take it to court” the policeman tells the whistleblower several times, but Eraldi believes that there is no time to be involved in court proceedings.
Afterwards, Fiks Fare’s group, together with Eraldi, go to the blocking point. But, it was not the only blocking point! The place was open, even cars were left on the side of the road and could very well be the subject of a possible extortion. Fiks journalists try to go in Eraldi’s vehicle, but the police officer does not allow them. He tells the whistleblower that he needs to get an unlocking order from the Traffic Police and come get it. We ask the journalists why others are placed on top of this citizen’s car. He says that’s how he found it and that he should ask elsewhere. Eraldi insists, telling him that the parts are stolen, from the disks, and the other parts.
“They steal them here. They have to be guarded by the police, but they steal them themselves“, concludes Eraldi. The place of blocking of these tools is not surrounded. Some parts are kept on the side of the road, others on top of each other, raising the suspicions of citizens that car parts are stolen in this country.
