Florida rapper Rollie Bands was gunned down outside his apartment building in Tampa yesterday, minutes after challenging his online critics to come and confront him at his home.
“A lot of these dudes know where I live,” the rapper wrote on his Instagram Story, according to the network HipHopDX. “I am calm. If any brave man needs a smoke, I’ll be home in 5 minutes.”
Five minutes after his post around 3:30 p.m., the rapper was shot once in the parking lot of his apartment. He was taken to a local hospital but did not survive.
The suspects, who police said they knew, fled in a vehicle but have not yet been caught.
“At this time the homicide does not appear to be random and the victim and suspect are known to each other,” the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.
Police appealed for information to arrest the suspects.
