In 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping, focused like never before on the military and climbed on an army destroyer in the South China Sea.
Before him, at that time, unfolded the largest fleet that the communist country had ever launched at sea simultaneously, 48 ships, dozens of fighter jets and more than 10 thousand military personnel.
For Xi Jinping, the most powerful leader since Mao Zedong, the day was a way to unleash his grand ambition, a force that would show China’s greatness and power in the seven oceans of the world. “The mission to build the most powerful navy in history is urgent now,” Xi said.
China, meanwhile, was in the midst of an effort to strengthen its military, as the world had never seen before. And the Chinese president demanded even more force. He ordered investments in shipyards and technology that continue at the same pace today.
And it seems his plan has worked. From 2015 until today, China has created the largest naval force in the world and is now working to make it brilliant even off its shores.
In 2015, the Chinese navy had 255 battleships in its fleet. By the end of 2020, there were 360, or 60 more than the US Navy. And after four years, the plan is for China to have a force of 400 military ships. While other military aspects are not left out either.
