Eleven people were shot dead yesterday and five were injured when assailants raided a hotel and two bars in northern Mexico with Molotov cocktails and bombs.
The horrific attack took place at the Gala Hotel and two bars in the Lindavista area in the town of Celaya.
Police arrived at the scene at 22.00 on Azalea Street, the daily reported El Sol Hidalgo when locals reported that more than 30 shots were heard.
Five women and a man were killed at the bar while another woman later died at the hospital from her injuries.
According to reports, 15 masked men stormed the hotel and the adjacent bar, shooting several times.
Witnesses said the attackers had used Molotov cocktails before leaving the scene.
Witnesses staying at the hotel said the attack had been organized and had lasted only a minute.
It is not yet clear who is responsible for the attack but the area is disputed territory between the Santa Rosa de Lima and Jalisco Nueva Generation cartels.
A day earlier, authorities had found plastic bags with three dismembered bodies, along with a letter referring to the revenge of organized criminal groups, the local network reported. Telemundo.
