120 kilograms of explosives were used to destroy an old bridge on a German highway.
The bridge was located near Wilnsdorf, in the West German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Foreign media say the bridge was 485 meters long and 70 meters high, the highest of its kind that has ever collapsed in the country with a controlled explosion.
The government infrastructure operator, Autobahn GmbH, clarified that the 55-year-old structure near the Hessian state border collapsed as planned at 11:00 local time.
The explosive had previously been systematized in 1850 pits. By the explosion, all 16 pillars of the bridge fell to the ground along with its surface, and the field crews had no unwanted surprises.
