A plane with 122 passengers on board has exploded dramatically in flames as it advanced on the runway towards the failed take-off today in China.
A total of 36 passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries after the unusual accident at Chongqing airport.
The horrific incident began to be realized when the Airbus A319 aircraft came out on the left side of the runway as it was advancing to take off.
The vehicle then passed through two adjacent runways losing its engines and landing wheels along the way, before gradually stopping in crawl. A large fire broke out on the left side of the vehicle, which reportedly could no longer be repaired.
The Chinese aviation administration CAAC said in a statement: “According to the crew’s testimony, the aircraft suffered an anomaly during takeoff. “After leaving the track, his two engines collided with the ground and broke, catching fire.”
An airport spokesman said investigations into the cause of the accident had begun, adding: “While the causes of the accident are being investigated, airport operations have returned to normal.”
This is the second air crash in China this year, after the one on March 21 when a Boeing 737-800 crashed in the mountains of southern China during a domestic flight from Kunming to Guangzhou.
The plane was flying at an altitude of about 10,000 meters and was near its destination when it started to lose altitude and crashed to the ground in a strange almost vertical fall, within two minutes.
None of the 123 passengers and crew managed to survive in that case, as British experts suggested Express.co.uk that one or more pilots should have lost consciousness.
