The Government of the Judiciary has decided to close 15 courts in the country, arguing that they are not functional.
Among them, five are the courts of appeal, which meet in a single one in Tirana and 10 courts of first instance.
“For two years, the council has put in place the emergency mechanism for filling the bodies in the courts and we have appointed from January to November 2021, 866 judges, this number will be higher next year, especially after the deepening of vacancies.“, Says the president of the HJC, Naureda Llagami.
Although there is no concrete balance on how much the cost will be, it is anticipated that there will be objections as soon as the draft is submitted for discussion in January 2022.
“It will be fully accessed by the citizens, seeing the demographic movements that have brought concentration of the population in Tirana and the Western Lowlands.“, Says the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja.
By the logic of a one-court district, the High Judicial Council claims that it will provide access to citizens, minimize backlog and there will be no procrastination. However, it remains to be seen whether this project will be functional or not.
