An 18-year-old refugee from Ukraine has reportedly been raped by two men aboard a hotel ship that Germany had made available for war evacuations.
The young woman accuses that she was raped by two men one after the other on the hotel ship Oscar Wilde, who have already been arrested for the March 6 attack, writes the German daily Picture .
The ship reportedly received in addition to paid customers about 25 Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.
Those fleeing Ukraine are mostly women and the elderly, and concerns have been growing about protecting them from human traffickers trying to turn them into victims of exploitation.
The case is at least the second rape of Ukrainian teenagers after the arrest of a man last week in Poland on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old Ukrainian woman fleeing the conflict.
German MP Andrea Lindholz told the daily Bild that the police should do more to protect Ukrainian women in their defense accommodation.
A police spokeswoman said: “Politicians should do everything possible to ensure that such rape cases do not continue.
The 49-year-old man was detained in Wroclaw, Poland over the weekend after he lured the reindeer with promises of help and now faces 12 years in prison for the crime.
Another man was detained in a refugee camp in Poland after offering a “one-room job” to a 16-year-old Ukrainian woman.
“Many of the refugees are women and children, so the risks of trafficking and sexual exploitation must be taken into account,” said Joung-ah Ghedini-Williams, UNHCR communications chief who visited the situation on the borders of Romania, Poland and Moldova.
