In Gjirokastra, another operation “ROAD GUARD” was finalized where a 21-year-old from Kamza was detained, who was transporting 5 emigrants from third countries.
He was arrested in flagrante delicto on the Gjirokastra-Tepelena road axis, after the police services signaled the stopping of a BMW vehicle driven by an IT citizen. The 21-year-old did not obey the order to stop but left quickly, endangering the lives of police.
After several minutes of pursuit in the place called “Crossroads below the Castle” Tepelena, police services have caught the IT citizen, who after going off the road with a vehicle, abandoned him and tried to leave but was handcuffed by police services .
5 illegal immigrants from MENA countries, were found inside the vehicle and after preliminary interrogation it was found that they were being transported for profit.
A vehicle and two mobile phones were seized as material evidence.
This is the 13th operation since the beginning of March while the border police is also combing the green border area where dozens of migrants try to cross on foot to enter Albania in order to transit to an EU country.
