4.3 tons of cocaine and two million euros in cash were seized in Italy, in a mega-operation by the police, which hit a criminal organization.
Police say they have destroyed the organization Golf Clan , the most important among Colombian drug traffickers. The leader of this group, Dario Antonio Usuga David, has been arrested and extradited to the United States of America.
Arrest warrants have been issued for 38 people accused of international drug trafficking in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, the Netherlands and Colombia.
The amount of narcotics seized, estimated to have been paid for around 96m euros by criminal buyer groups, is among the largest ever seized in Europe. In the Italian market, retail sales would have reached more than double that value, reaching a price of at least 240 million euros, according to Italian media.
In this operation, 19 “controlled shipments” were identified in a row, between May 2021 and May 2022, thanks to which important intermediaries in the world drug trafficking system and a large number of carriers operating inside and outside Italy were identified.
