But former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev accused the United States of declaring war on Russia “through another state.” In a message posted on his Telegram channel, Medvedev said the US would suffer more from this package and also lose its influence in the world.

Some Republicans opposed the bill, criticizing Democrats for moving too fast to send too many dollars to U.S. taxpayers abroad. The bill will need Republican votes to pass in the Senate.
