Economist Pano Soko spoke to “Albania Live” about the consequences of rising prices for people in need.
According to a study conducted by the ombudsman, the majority of the population receive a payment below the subsistence minimum.
Soko said that if we had a law that would determine the figures we would not have these payments to people in need.
“If we were to define a law on the subsistence minimum today it would mean that any payment made today as a personal transfer to individuals in need should not be below the subsistence minimum. Today we have almost 75% of the payments we make, we have them below the subsistence minimum“, Said Sako.
This conversation refers to the current situation in our country where prices have risen in recent weeks while wages have not changed.
In connection with this issue they have held several protests against the government for coping with the economic crisis.
