The new year makes us reflect, makes us create a list of things we will do over the next 12 months.

To this list we add a new hobby, we think about a new job, an activity that we may have forgotten long ago, so we give ourselves promises of different things. But what if the secret to success lies in what we should not do this year? Bad habits and the most common mistakes we make? We bring you a list of things you should not do this year.

Do not go back to the things you always did

It is easy to fall into old habits and after the stresses of the last two years, it would be something tempting for you to simply resume our pre-pandemic learning habits. However, this is a moment to review your approach, make sure it fits your new ways of working and relates to changes in your policies and your wider company culture!

Do not look at the growth strategy with hybrid work in the head

In fact, a recent Loom report found that people, on average, spend 65.2% of their time working from home and 34.8% in the office. And chances are, if you have not already reviewed your policies, your strategy and guidelines have been formed around a time when you were in office more often than you were not. Sit down, be critical and change sections that no longer reflect how you will work!

Do not let work from home hinder people’s learning opportunities

A recent study by Nespresso found that 41% think that “working from home means missing out on learning and development opportunities”. While 34% agree that “working from home means losing my career development opportunities”, it is your job to make sure that does not happen.

End the push to learn hard

If learning only comes from the top down, it limits people from pursuing their natural curiosity or pursuing development on their own terms. This makes you not focus and willingly get your knowledge.

Lessons that take a lot of time

It’s a lot of pressure and the wrong choice to try to learn too many lessons together in one day. It takes you a lot of time but also money. Instead, start thinking about something big, but start with something smaller and create small learning experiences in the workflow, this allows people to learn faster.

Make sure you are not ignoring the phone or distance learning

If you are among the people who are not “sociable” with phones then the chances of moving forward are shorter. This is because there is almost no work left that has not gone through technology. The same thing happens if you have not yet learned to work from home, because especially after the pandemic the likelihood of working from home has greatly increased.

Stop being antisocial

Your company is full of experts, use them. Certainly not in the bad sense, but listen carefully and ask for lessons from them! For example, if you are stuck in aspects of technology, why not go out and meet someone in the IT department? Be curious about work things, do not know when you need a thing!

Do not stay the same

It is very easy to go the same and safe line, but being visible can be the key to remembering, being encouraged and learning experiences that you will truly enjoy. For example, if you have always sent something in PDF, a video explanation would be welcome and would breathe new life into it!

Do not make a bad presence on social networks

If you are applying for a job, do not forget to hide inappropriate things on social networks. You need to have a strong social media presence when applying for a job. Many recruits look at candidates’ social networks.
