Authorities in the besieged eastern city of Mariupol said up to 90% of the buildings in the city had been destroyed by Russian forces in their daily bombing of the city.
Lesia Vasylenko, a Ukrainian lawmaker, wrote on Twitter that the city was being “destroyed from the sky” and reiterated President Volodymyr Zelensky’s call to Western countries to impose a no-fly zone over the country.
The report comes amid reports that rescue teams in the city are trying to evacuate survivors of an attack on a theater, where about 1,000 people, mostly women and children, were hiding to escape the bombs.
