Altha Williams was relaxing on the porch of her home in Sevierville, Tennessee, USA, when the golden mother approached the house with her puppies and attacked her.
Williams said that when she was mentioned, the bear and her cubs had their face almost in front of her face, but she had grabbed the garden chair and stopped them from getting closer.
“I was sitting with them for a few minutes. “They must have heard and the golden mother approached and tried to hit me with her paw,” Williams told the local network. WVLT.
The elderly woman had managed to escape with only a small wound in the forearm but says she escaped only by good luck.
“I pray to God since then as I may not be here now,” Williams said.
She adds that this is not the first time she has encountered bears near her home near the Smoky Mountains park.
“Even last year there was a mother bear with three puppies. “It could have been the same, but it had not bothered me before.”
She points out that previously bears were running away from her and what happened this time was very unusual.
Tennessee wildlife official Matt Cameron praised Williams’s reaction.
“The way he reacted is what we suggest to people to do, to stand up to look great, to shout and make noise to scare them,” he said.
But the bear did not seem to be happy with the attack on Williams, and ended up killed after launching an attack even against the woman’s neighbor.
“After the first attack of the golden mother, she attacked another neighbor who shot her. “After that we had no choice but to end it,” said the official.
