US Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Paul Ahern stated in Belgrade that all those Serbs from northern Kosovo who were sanctioned by the US should be held accountable.
“Individuals and companies subject to these sanctions should be held accountable, while their activities, which cause destabilization, should be stopped,” the US Embassy in Serbia quoted Ahern as saying.
The US Treasury Department, on December 8, added to the list of leading sanctions of the organized crime group in Kosovo and companies led by them with the motivation that they caused destabilization and carried out corrupt activities, harming the citizens and the economy of Kosovo and of Serbia.
“President [i SHBA-së, Joe Biden qartazi bëri me dije se luftimi i korrupsionit është prioritet kryesor i SHBA-së. Departamenti i Thesarit do të vazhdojë t’i mbajë përgjegjës protagonistët e korrupsionit, kudo qofshin ata”, tha Ahern.
Nënkryetari i Listës Serbe – partisë kryesore serbe në Kosovë – Milan Radoiçiç, dhe biznesmenët nga veriu i Kosovës, Zvonko Veselinoviç dhe vëllai i tij Zharko Veselinoviç, si dhe dhjetë persona të tjerë të lidhur me ta u përfshinë në listën e SHBA.
Zyrtarët e Kosovës i kanë mirëpritur sanksionet e SHBA-së kundër grupit të serbëve nga veriu i Kosovës, ndërsa presidenti i Serbisë, Aleksandar Vuçiç, ka thënë se autoritetet kompetente të vendit të tij do të hetojnë nëse ka “akuza të rënda”.
