NASA, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, has launched the world’s largest and most powerful telescope in space, named James Webb.
James Webb, whose release has been postponed many times before for various reasons, but today at this Christmas holiday was sent into space from the platform in French Guiana off the northeast coast of South America.
It is expected that James Webb will be placed after 1 month in orbit which is located at a distance of about 1.6 million kilometers from Earth and in 2022 will begin to collect the first data and images.
NASA announced that the telescope thanks to the mirror that can be extended 6.5 meters can collect more light and can observe more details.
Webb has an infrared technology and is the product of the latest technology where $ 10 billion has been spent. Thanks to advanced optical equipment, the telescope will be able to examine all stages of the history of the universe from the solar system to the most distant visible galaxies.
Also Webb which is the product of a joint work of NASA with the space agencies of Europe and Canada, is seen as the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, the largest and most powerful scientific observatory ever built.
