Albania will face Spain in March.
The leaders of FSHF have reached an agreement with their Iberian counterparts for the development of a prestigious duel against the team of Luis Enrique. The match will be played in Spain on March 26, 2022, as a decision on the stadium has not yet been made.
This will be the first friendly match between these two representatives, who have so far played against each other seven challenges, all valid for the qualifiers of European and world championships. Albania has played two matches with Spain, within the qualifiers of the 1988 European Championship.
The first match took place in our country, at the “Qemal Stafa” stadium on December 3, 1986, and was won by the Spaniards with a close result of 1-2. The only goal for the red and blacks was scored by Shkëlqim Muça. While in the second match in Spain, on November 18, 1987, Albania was defeated 5-0.
Meanwhile, the third challenge, valid for the qualifiers of the 1992 European Championship, took place in Spain, on December 19, 1990, which ended 9-0 in favor of the Spaniards.
The other 4 challenges were all developed within the qualifiers for the World Championship, namely the 1994 World Cup and the 2018 World Cup, where Albania has not managed to win any of these matches.
The duel in March next year will be a good opportunity for coach Edi Reja to try out schemes and players for the June encounters in the Nations League, where we are part of Group 2 of League B with national teams like Russia, Israel and Iceland./ Supersport
