In the Clinic of Vascular Surgery, University Clinical Center of Kosovo, a rare and sensitive operation was performed, for the first time in Kosovo.
An announcement from the Hospital, Clinical, University Service of Kosovo (SHSKUK) states that surgeons, along with anesthesiologists and the rest of the operating team, operated on a 76-year-old patient in the internal carotid artery (the artery that feeds the brain with blood). The artery was in a spiral shape until it entered the brain and was narrowed at its origin.
Diseases appearing in the carotid artery are rare, with a high risk of causing stroke.
After the operation, control examinations were performed, where it was concluded that the surgery was performed with complete success and the patient, after 3 days of hospitalization, was released home in good health.
