An Argentine judge has been filmed by prison security cameras kissing on the lips with a police killer, whom she had previously tried to escape from life imprisonment.
Judge Mariel Suarez, of the southern Chubut province, was recorded kissing Cristian ‘Mai’ Bustos in the Treleu city jail on the afternoon of December 29th.
One week earlier Suarez had set up a panel of judges to decide whether to grant life imprisonment to Bustos for the 2009 murder of police officer Leandro ‘Tito’ Roberts.
Suarez was the only panel judge to vote against life imprisonment, although it was argued that Bustos was a “very dangerous criminal”.
But her refusal failed to save Bustos, who last week received the maximum sentence.

Suarez is already being investigated by the high court for “inappropriate behavior”.
Bustos has been jailed for the 2009 murder in the town of Corcovado of police officer Leandro Roberts, who was trying to arrest him for a previous escape from prison.
The convict’s brother was killed in the ensuing gun battle, while a second police officer was wounded.
The judge has not yet commented on the latest scandal.
