Sali Berisha has been permanently expelled from the Democratic Party. The DP leadership has stripped the former Democratic leader of his right to be an ordinary member of the party.
At a marathon meeting of the presidency, which started at 19:00 on Monday and ended at 3:30 in the morning, the decision was made to expel the members of the PD Re-establishment Commission:
Bujar Nishani, Flamur Noka, Albana Vokshi, Edmond Spaho, Arben Ristani, Klevis Balliu and Keltis Kruja.
Meanwhile, the following deputies have been suspended from the right: Agron Shehaj, Aldo Bumçi, Belind Kelliçi, Blendi Himci, Çlirim Gjata, Edit Harxhi, Edi Paloka, Eno Bozdo, Ervin Minarolli, Gent Deromemaj, Genc Pollo, Genti Strazimiri, Rigels Iuc , Ledina Mandia, Luan Baci, Lorenc Luka, Mimoza Hajdarmataj, Oerd Bylykbashi and Tritan Shehu.
Developments within the party come three days after the protest called by Berisha. Democrats gathered in front of the blue headquarters, in a rally that ended in physical clashes. The Democrats’ house was damaged after protesters tried to open doors and windows and free, as they say, from Basha’s clutches, the headquarters that belongs to all Democrats.
In recent months, the Democratic Party has faced an internal political battle between the leader of the Democrats Lulzim Basha and his supporters and on the other hand Sali Berisha and his supporters.
Berisha convened the party’s National Assembly on December 8, and then a referendum was held in the country, where Democrats voted to oust Basha and the DP Provisional Re-Establishment Commission was set up. All these movements of Berisha have been considered illegitimate by the official DP.
