The leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha on Friday reacted to the sentencing of former Minister Saimir Tahiri to 5 years in prison.
In a note on the social network Facebook, Basha writes that today’s decision for Saimir Tahiri, proves how true were the accusations of the Democratic Party for the involvement of the former Minister of Interior in the international drug trafficking.
“The facts of his involvement in a structured criminal group, are clear evidence that at the head of the gang is Edi Rama, the man who appointed, defended and used every mechanism to delay the punishment of his subordinate“, Said Basha.
According to him, Tahiri and Lefter Koka are just two of the links in the chain of crime and corruption that Edi Rama has as author and executor.
On Friday, the Special Court of Appeals for Corruption and Organized Crime ruled in favor of former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri.
The court upholds the first instance decision, with the change that Tahiri will serve in prison the sentence of 5 years in prison. Due to the reduction of the sentence, Tahiri will spend 3 years and 4 months in prison.
According to the procedure, the former minister should immediately start serving his sentence in a regular security prison.
According to the court, Tahiri with his actions and inactions has influenced the spread of the phenomenon of cannabis cultivation.
