The only Russian F1 driver can compete, the sports governing body has confirmed.
Nikita Mazepin – the only Russian pilot this season – will be allowed to participate under a neutral flag.
Formula 1 has opposed the wishes of the International Olympic Committee by allowing Russian and Belarusian pilots to continue racing – provided they participate in international races in a neutral capacity and under the FIA flag until further notice.
This comes after FIFA and UEFA announced that all Russian national teams and clubs will be banned indefinitely from their competitions, barring athletes from those countries from all major events.
Last week, F1 canceled the Russian Grand Prix to be held on September 25th.
