The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi on the second day of his official visit to Tirana, met today with the Chairman of the Democratic Party of Albania, Lulzim Basha, where they discussed current political developments in Kosovo and Albania and the deepening of cooperation between PDK and PD.
Krasniqi expressed satisfaction with the hospitality and thanked Basha for his readiness to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two parties belonging to the same ideological axis.
“It is really a pleasure to start the second day of my first official visit as chairman of PDK in the Democratic Party here in Albania with my friend and opposition leader Lulzim Basha, not only as two opposition leaders in our two countries, “but also as two party leaders who have had cooperation for many years, both bilaterally, but also in international forums as two parties belonging to the same ideological axis of the center-right,” he said.
The PDK leader stressed that beyond that, the meeting discussed in detail topics of common concern.
“Kosovo and Albania have many areas where there is a need to intensify cooperation to increase institutional coordination and it has always been and is a good example that regardless of whether we are in government or in opposition in our countries, in cooperation Kosovo – Albania, Albania – “Kosovo is indisputable and a priority of priorities, so I am glad that as two leaders of the main opposition parties in Kosovo and Albania, we appreciate that our obligations and responsibilities to deepen this cooperation between our countries are common duties and responsibilities,” he said. Krasniqi.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha congratulated the PDK for the extraordinary role it has played in the process of forming the state of Kosovo and for the role it continues to play as a constructive opposition in the service of the interests of the citizens of Kosovo, and wished good luck to the mayor Memli Krasniqi as a representative of a new generation of leadership and as a good example for all Albanian youth that it is time to shoulder the burden of politics.
“Of course, we talked about the latest developments, in particular regarding the developments of the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia, where PDK stands firmly in the same position regarding the objective of this dialogue, which is mutual recognition between the two countries and in in particular shares the view that the return of strong coordination between EU and US states is a good chance to advance this dialogue and overcome obstacles, where of course a great burden falls on the EU and the 5 member states, recognition “of which the reality of the Republic of Kosovo will eventually avoid any scenario like those in Bosnia and Herzegovina that threaten the architecture of peace and stability in the Balkans, but also the European peace and stability itself,” he said.
Basha said that they also discussed the need to strengthen the fight against corruption by independent institutions and all this for the sake of civic welfare, because the main enemy of civic welfare in both Albania and Kosovo remain weak institutions and the fight against corruption, which should be a priority of every politician from any position.
“Meanwhile, Albania has a permanent task, but at the moment even more important as a temporary member of the Security Council to push with all its might and ways forward every aspect that has to do with Kosovo and its citizens, especially in the continuation of international recognition, that of membership in international institutions and the Democratic Party here not only will not stop pushing not only from the current opposition positions, but also will not spare anything for Albania to give everything it can so that Kosovo “to have the maximum benefits of a real, close and productive cooperation between Albania and Kosovo in the political and economic field,” he said.
