Young artists are given an opportunity to engage in the cultural life of the capital to showcase their talents.
The Tirana Philharmonic held its first concert at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet, presenting a musical program with famous works such as Vivaldi, Schubert, Kreisler and others. Mayor Veliaj said that we will give opportunities to every talented girl and boy.
“I am glad that today, through this concert, we have established what will be the Tirana Youth Philharmonic, to make sure that while we have an elite of Opera and Ballet, we prepare another generation, which also performs, that directs the projectors by themselves and their talent, which also gives a chance to every boy and every girl with an instrument, regardless of the surname of the city that comes, that Tirana, which is also the European Capital of Youth, to shine, to be applauded, and move forward with merit”.
Veliaj explained how those who participate in the Tirana Philharmonic are selected. Music he said has an extraordinary ability to unite people regardless of their political beliefs
“Today Tirana is in Europe, and it is even the European Capital of young people. I was thinking about my friends here on stage, how does it happen that someone performs on this stage? Normally, auditions take place, maybe 100 people apply for a place, and maybe many young people have to wait for someone older to retire, to vacate a place in our music elite. We decided this together with my friend, Arben Skënderi, with whom we were also political opponents, but I think that politics is part of the noise, and this is part of the music and to make music we are always allies to produce good ideas“.
