The challenges that the Albanian language faces, but also messages of pride and love for our language, one of the oldest and most special languages in the world have been conveyed by students and teachers from Durrës, in the framework of the International Mother Language Day. For Shpresa Meçen, a student of grade VIII in the school “November 14”, language is the greatest wealth of the nation.
Shpresa Meçja, student: “The Albanian language is what personalizes us as a nation. Knowing and loving your language is the least we can do for our country. The greatest wealth of a nation is the language, while that of a state is the people. Many people have emigrated and this has brought problems with our language and transformed it for personal or economic needs. However, it must always remain in our hearts and if we are far from it. “
Children of immigrant families who have returned to their homeland have often faced difficulties in schooling due to language barriers.
Merita Kuçi, director of the school “14 November” Durrës: “The phenomenon is present in schools today, as society itself is always in motion, like the bed of the Albanian language… Schools are facilities that welcome them by making available all capacities in the field of language and science so that they do not feel left out but walk in school programs, like other students. ”
Shpresa also tells how her classmates are helping a student of her school, who returned from Italy with her family, to speak the Albanian language as cleanly as possible.
Shpresa Meçja, student: “There are not many problems now, as the students in her class help her with everything. – So there were problems? “Yes, there were, even though his parents are from Albania.”
Learning and writing pure Albanian language in an open society remains a challenge at every stage of education
Merita Kuçi, school director: “Making school libraries available. The more we motivate students with the book, the more beautifully they will express themselves and will be able to correctly perceive other sciences as well, as language remains the basis, the foundation of thought. ”
In collaboration with the Archaeological Museum of Durrës, these students and teachers chose the museum premises to convey meaningful messages on the importance and protection of the Albanian language, as one of the most valuable evidence and assets we have inherited since ancient times.
