“You start the war, only you can stop it,” Arnold Schwarzenegger calls on Putin

According to him, the Russian president and the Russian people should shed light on the ‘truth’ about the occupation of Ukraine, describing it as a ‘humanitarian catastrophe’.

In a video shared to his followers on Instagram and on the Facebook page of media company ATTN, the 74-year-old Austro-American actor shared his love for Russia and the Russian people before making harsh comments to Putin and the Kremlin.

Describing himself as a ‘longtime friend’ of the Russian people, he gives Putin a direct message: President Putin, you started this war. You are leading this war. You can stop this war.

“The world has turned against Russia because of its actions in Ukraine. Entire blocks of the city have been razed by Russian artillery and bombs, including a children’s hospital and a maternity hospital.

“Three million Ukrainian refugees, mostly women, children and the elderly, have fled their country. And many more are trying to get out. It is a humanitarian crisis. Because of its brutality, Russia is now isolated from the society of nations. Nor are you being told the truth about the consequences of this war on Russia itself. I regret to say that thousands of Russian soldiers have been killed. Massive quantities of Russian equipment have been destroyed or abandoned. Those who do not deserve it, on both sides of the war, will suffer. “The Russian government has not only lied to its citizens, but also to its soldiers.”said the actor.

The actor and filmmaker mentioned his love for Russia and the Russian people in his younger years and talked about his father, who was part of the Nazi army in World War II, and gave Putin another direct message by asked why he would sacrifice his people for his ambitions.

“When my father arrived in Leningrad, he was all driven by the lies of his government,” Schwarzenegger said. And when he left Leningrad, he was broken, physically and mentally. He lived the rest of his life in pain. Pain from a broken back. For the Russian soldiers who listen to this narration, you already know a lot from the truth I have spoken. You have seen it with your own eyes. This is not a war to defend Russia, fought by your grandparents or great-grandparents, this is an illegal war. Your lives, your limbs, your future, are being sacrificed for a meaningless war condemned by the whole world“, He added.
