The earthquake destroyed the house, the family with 5 members lives in the apartment with broken columns

Flora Xhafa, mother of 3 children with different socio-economic problems, has asked for the help of the show “Fiks Fare”, since the earthquake of November 2019, her house turned out to be DS4 and since then no intervention has been made for the reconstruction of the apartment. Flora says that the experts have ascertained the damage of the house and they have been informed that they should not enter the house without finishing the reconstruction, because the house may collapse as a result of the damages of the main columns of the house.

Also, for the journalists of ‘Fiks Fare’, she says that she has two children with problems in mental development. The Municipality of Kavaja treats the Xhafa family with a rent bonus of 159 thousand old lek, but their transfer to the account is not done regularly. Flora says that some time ago she lived in a rented house, but the landlord did not allow her to stay anymore because the payments were not regular and she was forced to return to the damaged house. She says staying home is scary because every time they go up and down the stairs the house shakes and the kids get scared. Flora is not interested in continuing to be treated with the rent bonus, but wants to know when the works for the restoration of the house will start, because from the Golem Administrative Unit and the Municipality of Kavaja whenever she is interested, the employees of these 2 institutions let her without an answer.

The journalists of ‘Fiks Fare’ addressed the Golem Administrative Unit, where the public service employee explained that the Xhafa family file has long passed under the administration of the Municipality of Kavaja and that there are all the files of damaged houses with DS4-DS5 level . The applications of the Xhafa family are regular, also the Construction Institute has evaluated the facility for restoration with the amount of 2,554,040.83 ALL (new) is the first in the list of applicants and at the moment that the works for everyone will start, the family will be money in which to intervene.

After the Administrative Unit, the journalists together with the citizen address the Municipality of Kavaja. During the interest of the citizen in the public reception offices, the employees tell her that the houses with DS4 damage level in the city of Kavaja have not started to be restored yet. After some of her insistences for a more accurate answer, the municipal police removes her from the premises of the municipality, telling her that we can not stand her. But, the director of the municipal cabinet, Shpend Barameta says for the journalists that the lady has received the right answer, but a request for information should be made for more detailed explanations.

After the request for information addressed to the Municipality of Kavaja, in response it is stated that the Municipality of Kavaja has sent the request for funds, but we are waiting for the approval of the fund. The Construction Institute has recommended that the building should be subject to reconstruction and the estimated value is 2,554,040.83 new ALL.
