2 days ago, a respected doctor of the QSUNT Internal Diseases Polyvalent Emergency that I lead, was struck while on duty. He is one of us, a respected doctor, with professional authority and a civil liability to every patient of every kind without distinction. Sorry for what happened.! Unfortunately this is not the first time a doctor has been hit in the line of duty. The news was given by all stations and spread on all social media. Nothing surprising so far. Very soon, along with the news, lynching began for the stricken doctor and for doctors in general. The lowest, most incredible, dirtiest, most threatening, most denigrating words are read by many comments towards us, the white shirts. O God…! Where are we going like this ?! By what logic can one imagine that the doctor is the enemy of this people ?!
For a year we leave the houses early in the morning without calculating the schedule when we will return. We are at war with an invisible enemy, in a real battle. Emergency staff face every day, endangered, hundreds of patients with Covid, Post Covid, with extremely severe pathology, acute coronary heart disease, clinical death, acute renal disease, diabetes mellitus and multiorgan disease coming from the whole republic. This is the panorama of every ordinary day today in Emergency. It is in this service that the life of these patients takes a turn in terms of their improvement only from work, knowledge and above all the dedication of this staff. Eh if you know how much gratitude and thanks we receive.! Eh if you know how much worry and sadness we feel when we can not keep a patient alive. What a pity… Ah if it had come a little earlier. !!!
Certainly not everything is perfect. We also have our difficulties. But we never and at no point do we let these difficulties become a risk factor for patients’ lives.
