France announced easing of restrictions on Covid from Monday, January 3rd.
Fully vaccinated persons who test positive will now only need to be isolated for seven days and can be quarantined after five days if they show a negative test.
The change in rules should allow for a “benefit-risk balance aimed at ensuring control of the virus while preserving socio-economic life,” the French health ministry said.
French authorities followed the example of other countries such as the United States, which this week shortened the isolation period to prevent a crisis in the staffing industry.
Olivier Veran, the French Minister of Health, told the newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche published on Sunday:
“Isolation can be stopped after five days in case of a negative test. “Those who have not been vaccinated will have to be isolated for 10 days, and have the opportunity to come out of isolation after seven days under the same conditions as others.” writes “The Guardian”.
