This is the daily situation at the Black Bird roundabout, but also at other pedestrian crossings which are not regulated with traffic lights. People and cars share the same road claiming that each of them has the advantage to cross.
It is not uncommon for pedestrians to cross one after another on these white lines, which are signaled only by a sign, creating heavy vehicle traffic, especially during the busiest hours.
Even in Willson Square, due to pedestrians crossing from one sidewalk to another, drivers have to wait until the road is empty to continue moving.
The same situation is at the roundabout next to the Faculty of Economics, where the influx of students crossing the road often often paralyzes the circulation of vehicles.
Road Safety Expert Mamir Hodo notes that in Tirana the white lines have been set without criteria and says that the frequent interruption of the road by them gives negative effects for both pedestrians and drivers.
According to him, in order to increase road safety, conflict points should be avoided, where cars and pedestrians have the same space to cross.
