As Memphis Depay’s contract expires in 2023, Barcelona want to renew to avoid the risk of losing it with zero parameters.
The player has seen very few minutes since Xavi came to the helm of Barça, unlike when the team was led by Ronald Koeman, Memphis Depay is already in question for the future.
However, the Barça coach recently sent a message to his striker at a press conference: “Memphis is a leader. He can score goals and play very well. We must appreciate it. We will see what we may or may not do next season. He is an important player. “He makes a difference, he is a leader, he is versatile, he works well, he has a goal… you have to appreciate him a lot”.
Referring to this statement already the extension of the contract seems to be the most likely solution. According to Spanish media reports, Barcelona is seriously considering the idea of extending Memphis Depay’s contract.
Barça absolutely do not want to risk losing him to leave with zero parameters within a year, therefore, the Catalan club will be open to possible offers this summer, but anyway the main goal remains the extension of Depay’s contract. While a final decision will be made at the end of the season./Super Sport
