Albania has stepped up its work to identify and apprehend human traffickers, says US Ambassador Yuri Kim.
In her speech at the “Balkan Freedom Forum” on “The current trend of trafficking in human beings in the Balkans”, called by President Ilir Meta, the US Ambassador said that the Albanian government still has a lot of work to do in this process.
“For 4.00 years, trafficking and slavery have been accepted. But now we are aware that they are wrong. I believe that the Albanian government has taken more steps to catch and punish traffickers, but we need to see more. NGOs that assisted in identifying victims of trafficking were also assisted“.
Stable determination must be shown, Kim points out.
“This is a regional issue. The fight against human trafficking has been at the heart of U.S. governments. we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities offered by this forum”.
