The European Union Special Representative for the Pristina-Belgrade Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, starts his visit to Kosovo today, where he is expected to stay until March 3.
After Pristina, he will stop for a day in Belgrade, after which a visit to Montenegro is on the agenda as part of his regional mandate.
The senior European official is expected to meet during these three days of his stay in Kosovo with senior state and political officials, as well as with representatives of the European Union on the ground. The EU, in the first reactions after the elections in Kosovo on February 14, has called on the new authorities that will emerge from these elections to continue their constructive engagement in the dialogue with Serbia.
The winner of the early parliamentary elections, Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV), although it has not prioritized dialogue with Serbia for the normalization of relations, says it should have a new approach.
This approach, among other things, requires the involvement of the United States of America. Vetëvendosje has consistently described the Brussels-mediated dialogue as non-transparent and called most of the 33 agreements signed in Brussels a failure.
Her candidate for prime minister, Albin Kurti, described the dialogue as a ‘sixth or seventh priority’, and this was not well received by Brussels, under whose mediation this process started in 2011, without succeeding in producing results. tangible.
