Roma should have flown to Barcelona on August 6 for the Gamper trophy, but the yellow and reds withdrew from this match through an official press release, as they had rescheduled the friendlies and it was not worthwhile for them to hold this meeting.
A decision that disappointed the “blaugrana” party, which even vowed to take legal action against the Italian club, for the damage caused.
“Gazetta dello Sport” this Thursday revealed that Roma on August 6 is planning a friendly for peace with the Ukrainian team, Shakthar Donetck. This meeting will be played at “Olimpico” as soon as Roma completes the preparatory phase and will aim to raise funds for charity.
The decision to cancel the confrontation with Barça is probably related to Mourinho’s desire not to clash with a very strong opponent who would play with a lot of intensity. Roma has preferred an opponent against whom they can play not at the maximum pace, to avoid any possible injury.
