Laçi is ready to start the European adventure. At the latest at 20:00, the people of Kurbin will play the first challenge with Isra in Elbasan Arena, a valid meeting for the first qualifying round of the Conference League. For Supersport, the coach of the whites, Shpëtim Duro, says that the team is ready, highlighting that the preparations have met his expectations.
“Of course we are ready. We started our preliminary stage in Pogradec in very good conditions. The team is focused and serious. We are ready to start this European adventure”.
Laçi is one of the teams that has regularly participated in the last editions of the European Cups, which has created the highest coefficient among the Albanian teams and classified it among the favorite teams in the first two rounds. Coach Duro also admits something like this, but remembers that in football, the one who is considered the favorite on paper does not always manage to win.
“On paper, we are the favorites, taking into account the coefficient in the European Cups, as we are the best Albanian team in recent years with participation in Europe, so we are considered the favorites against Iskra. But, in football, the favorite team does not always win. We need to focus seriously and perform like the last edition.
The opponent has changed a lot from the previous edition, something that is clear to Laçi, so they have taken all measures to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
“We have studied the opponent, but it is a fact that the Iskra team has changed a lot and we have not dealt with the matches of the previous season. We watched their preparatory matches, we analyzed it with the team. It’s a team not at our level, but it’s a team that puts itself well on the field and we must definitely find a way for our team to prepare well to pass this round”.
The first match could give the Kurbins a considerable advantage for the qualification, if a victory is achieved, but for Duro it is important that the team is focused for both of these matches that will be played.
“There are no changes between the matches, a positive result makes our work easier for the return match, but there are no more differences. Last edition we showed that we know how to play well on and off the field. It will be two very important meetings, but the first match will not be decisive, although a good result will be positive, but we must be focused for both matches.
We must be realistic that passing a tour is a success for the national teams. How the situations come about is another topic, we have changes, but not many as we have kept 70-80% of the team. Several players in the middle of the field, who are important for this team, like Shehu and Deliu, have left. It’s a closed story and we see money, we have good players, we have to pass this round and then we will look from the market to target quality players, we don’t need many changes“, said Duro.
