Weightlifting is one of the sports that in recent years has brought many successes to our country, but in most cases the athletes who have managed to honor the flag and the nation have not received adequate financial support.
Briken Calja is one of the most distinguished weightlifters of our country, as he recently managed to get three medals in the European championship held last year in Russia and three medals in the world championship held in Uzbekistan at the end of last year.
According to the amended law on the management of the budget for sports, on the criteria, the method of remuneration and the treatment of athletes, who benefit from high-level status, Calja would benefit from the amount of 19,900,000 (nineteen million nine hundred thousand) lek, for the six medals he has received.
Something like this is evidenced through a document of the Ministry of Education and Sports, dated April 21.

However, Calja, through an official reaction on his Facebook profile, disclosed the scandal that only the reward for the European championship medals was deposited in his account. In other words, only 2,100,000 lek (two million one hundred thousand) lek. A scandal that tarnishes the sport of weightlifting!
Calja himself accuses the Weightlifting Federation of not exceeding the second amount granted by the ministry, stating that something like this can be easily proven through bank transactions.
“Regarding the Weightlifting Federation, I just wanted to express my regret for the continued lies and hypocrisy regarding this topic. If Briken’s account received the full reward of the medals as the Federation claims, this is easily verifiable. Only the first order of the Ministry has been transferred to Briken’s account, as I have personally agreed to divide the reward in parts.

Every banking transaction is easily verifiable in the banking systems and in the State Treasury, so let’s put hypocrisies and lies aside, but let’s direct the work properly. I bear moral responsibility and perhaps even more for the last sentences regarding the Weightlifting Federation and the financial reward procedures!“, Calja specifies in his post.
A few days ago, the red and black weightlifter had posted a photo where he wrote: “My 2 career mistakes! Too much trust with the wrong people. Tolerating too much… Soon they will get the right answer“.

Just a few minutes after Calja’s post about the scandal he revealed, the Weightlifting Federation also reacted, through a post on its Instagram page, where it is said that Calja received most of the reward, while part of the rest will withdraw on July 12.
“It is true that the sportsman Briken Calja received the reward of 178 million old lek last week. After submitting the notarial deed, the difference of 10 million old lek will be transferred to the athlete Briken Calja on 12.07.2022“, says the post of the weightlifting federation, which accompanies it with a photo of a transaction where only the values can be seen, while the seals or official elements that confirm the banking movement are not visible.

A scandal that involves one of the disciplines which has given us a lot of pleasure in recent years, but without question that such events take us back many years, with the big question: who took the Briken lek?/Supersport
