Taulant Balla is convinced that next week the First Intergovernmental Conference of the European Union will be held not only with Albania, but also with North Macedonia.
The number two of the Socialist Party is basing his security on the expected developments on Thursday in the Macedonian Parliament, which decides on the French proposal.
“I said with hope that within this week one of the homework of the French plan for North Macedonia will be fulfilled, and my call is that this precondition be fulfilled. Albanians always have a saying that hope dies last. The invitation is more for the opposition of RMV to support the timely adoption of this decision”. said Taulant Balla.
Germany also expects positive signals for the negotiations. The rapporteur for the Western Balkans in the Bundestag, Adis Ahmetovic, announced his country’s commitment to opening negotiations.
“Three weeks ago we had a conference on the European future of the Western Balkans. We had a historic opportunity to grant visa liberalization to Kosovo, to support North Macedonia and especially Albania for the next step in the European Union, but we lost this historic chance. So this week will be historic. And we as the German government and parliament will work so that Albania can start negotiations next week”, said Adis Ahmetovic, member of the Bundestag.
In the same line, the socialist official and member of the Bundestag criticized the European Union for the illiberalism of visas with Kosovo.
