Badly left after the collapse of the Soviet Union, one of the most powerful people on the globe today, Russian President Vladimir Putin, was forced to work as a taxi driver.
“I had to make some more money and work by taxi. “It’s not something I remember with pleasure, but unfortunately, this is the truth,” the Russian president was quoted as saying in a documentary quoted by Ria Novosti.
For Putin, the collapse of the Soviet Union marks the end of “historic Russia.”
He has previously described the moment as “a tragedy for most Russian citizens.”
A loyal servant of that system, Putin was deeply disappointed after its collapse and described the collapse of the USSR as “the greatest geopolitical disaster of the 20th century.”
The end of the Soviet Union brought a difficult period of economic instability, which plunged millions into poverty as the newly independent Russia transitioned from communism to capitalism.
Putin’s confession comes at a time when critics have accused him of plotting to re-create the Soviet Union by invading Ukraine.
