The Minister of Health said that with the opening of the new service in the hospital “Shefqet Ndroqi” will increase in the first year up to 30% cardiac surgery.
“We have already reached the levels of 770 to 800 per year in terms of cardiac surgery at QSUT. With this new service we will be able to increase by about 30% in the first year, in 12 calendar months and then increasing by 50%. Of course we aim at quality in relation to the coverage and all the needs that the population has. We have a very good model that has been for years at the University Hospital Center, which is being transferred from the point of view of knowledge, technology here at the University Hospital “Shefqet Ndroqi”. The new cardiac surgery service at Shefqet Ndroqi Hospital is the investment of the state budget in the amount of 86 million for the complete reconstruction of the new operating room, special resuscitation unit and all medical equipment of the latest technology.
The opening of this second nationwide service in public hospitals will significantly improve the quality and timely treatment of patients. In this new cardiac surgery unit, it is foreseen to perform 400 interventions per year.
