The Municipal Council of Tirana approved in today’s meeting the proposal to name a street in Tirana after Fatos Baxhak, the well-known publicist and journalist, who suddenly passed away at the age of 55.
Mayor Erion Veliaj said that with the honor given to the name of Fatos Baxhak, the entire generation of the best of Albanian journalism is honored.
“We have a proposal from the “Art Impulse” association to name a street after Fatos Bazhaku – journalist and publicist, a rare personality. When I talk about Andrea Stefani, whose name we have named the school we are building in “Shqiponja”, and today about Fatos Baxhak, I remember the generation of journalists who did not receive fines, who did not work with two borders – one on television and one to Tirana’s private parties – journalists who did not open portals to ask for money in exchange for the removal of fake news, journalists who did not deal with ‘life is rough’, pencil and pen, neither defamed nor wrote “fake news”. A generation that looks like an endangered species. Sometimes, they say, God takes the best. When we honor Fatos Baxhak, we honor the constellation, the generation of the best of Albanian journalism and not the fines”, said Veliaj.
