Another street in Tirana joins the ring of big names in Albanian art. The Municipal Council of Tirana has approved the naming of one of the streets in the Administrative Unit no. 14 in the capital with the name of the prominent actor of theater and cinematography Lazër Filipi.
In a special reception given to the family of the “Merited Artist” on the 101st anniversary of his birth, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, expressed his happiness that the urbanization of modern Tirana is moving in parallel with the dignified names, marked in stories from immortal names of art, sport and culture in our country.
“I am very happy that, together with the family of Lazër Filip, we have dedicated a decision of the Municipal Council to a new road in Unit 14, where the Ring ends and where Astiri, from a problematic area, is turning into an area with a lot of potential and where it is being urbanized with new roads, but also with dignified names. I am glad that today it is not only important to do infrastructure, but also to name infrastructure. “Sometimes, they were made with names that had no value, or any outstanding contribution, but were found as a way by politics to make names in the city,” said Mayor Veliaj.
Today, said Veliaj, the names in the city are with a new standard. “We are putting those people who have made us proud, who really represent the dignity and talent of Tirana and who are names that will stand the test of time, because I believe that despite the systems, the government, the parties may have changed, but who had the talent, “Whoever was real, whoever had passion and whoever showed a value of our community survives every power, every time and every weather,” he declared.
Paskalina Filipi, the daughter of the famous actor, expressed pride, but also grateful for this appreciation given to her late father. “We are very proud and happy that a pride of the city is part of us, of our father, that he has given a lot for everyone until the last breath. We are very proud and we will try to keep it and preserve it with pride. “You made us so happy with this dignified and great appreciation for our father,” she said.
Lazër Filipi was born on February 7, 1921 in Shirq of Shkodra. He was a prominent actor of theater and cinematography, screenwriter and director. For high merits in the field of scenic art in 2005 he was honored with the title “Merited Artist” for his 80 roles in theater and cinema.
