One of the most beautiful roads by the lake of Farka, the second largest park in Tirana, is named after the icon of the white and blue club and the Albanian national football team, former football player and coach, Ali Mema.
Evaluating Farka Park as one of the most beautiful jewels of the capital, Mayor Erion Veliaj said that it is in the honor of all citizens of the capital to remember the figure of the great Ali Mema.
“Ali Mema was above all a citizen, a good tyrant, then he was also an excellent player, coach and athlete. I have a great pleasure that the road by the lake of Farka will have the name of the wonderful, our beloved, Ali Memes“, Said the mayor of Tirana, Erjon Veliaj.
The mayor said that the time when Ali Mema shone was difficult, but he never lost his dignity, even served as inspiration for whole generations.
“Those who will visit this park will have the opportunity to tell their children the story of Ali Mema, the history of Albanian sports, which in those years took place in difficult conditions. To have survived that time, when politics also ruled sports life, and to have preserved your dignity, inspiring whole generations, is something very big. I wish we keep it with honor and always remember the name of Ali Mema“, Added Veliaj.
Ali Mema will be remembered by Albanian sports fans as one of the greatest players of the generation ’60 -’70, and one of the most prominent figures of training, who has left behind extraordinary contributions, known and appreciated even in the international arena.
