The deputy leader of the Bridge movement, Miloš Konatar, told Montenegrin media that he personally believes that Dritan Abazovi duhet should be appointed Prime Minister of the country.
Talks on this scenario, according to him, start today. He said he would discuss this with representatives of the current majority, but also with other entities in parliament.
The pro-Serbian government of Zdravko Krivokapic was overthrown the day before with the votes of 43 deputies in parliament, while 11 lawmakers were against this step.
A total of 54 deputies voted. All opposition parties, led by Milo Djukanovic’s Democratic Party of Socialists and the parties of the current coalition, the Civic Movement URA and Civis, voted in favor, while the Democratic Front MPs, those of the Movement for Change and the People’s Socialist Party MPs were not. present during the voting.
The no-confidence motion was initiated by the URA Movement, led by the current Deputy Prime Minister, Abazovic. The vote on the motion paves the way for the negotiation process for the formation of the new government.
Abazovic said talks would begin on forming a new executive branch, and that there are several options, including early elections.
Shortly after the fall of the government, Podgorica and several other Montenegrin cities celebrated with fireworks and the slogan “Long live Montenegro” (Long live Montenegro).
