The former head of the Municipality of Kamza, Xelal Mziu, was summoned today by the Special Prosecutor’s Office. Mziu was questioned by Posacăm prosecutors regarding the report made against him by his successor Rakip Suli.
Mziu is being investigated by SPAK for abuse of office and corruption issues, after two special reports based on the audit report for social housing. Journalist Anila Hoxha told Top Channel that in the first file, Mziu is suspected of favoring private entities, which have been granted development and construction permits, not forcing them to pass 3 percent of the functional area for social housing in favor of the Municipality.
As further suspected, former mayor Mziu has not taken any action against the subjects, causing damage to the municipality for the social housing fund. In the report, according to the sources, the amount of over 22 million ALL is highlighted as preliminary damage. The consequences caused according to the verifications carried out in advance are not only related to the interests of the municipality but also of the people who should be accommodated in social housing.
The other file against Mziu is related to passenger transport lines and their licensing, without having a contract in the file, while important documents that should be issued by the licensing authority are also missing.
