Flax trees are perhaps the most fragrant trees while their flowers and leaves have found use in folk medicine since ancient times.
Maybe this is one of the reasons why the pedestrian street “28 Nentori” in the center of Shkodra is full of them, but few could think that these beautiful trees with a pleasant aroma can be the cause of accidents.
More than 10 citizens on bicycles crashed on Monday morning due to strange accidents. Two of them also ended up in hospital due to injuries.
Flax flowers, at night, due to the wind have fallen on the pedestrian and Monday morning, favored even by humidity have created a slippery layer just like ice during the winter season.
After the signals for the accidents, the police blocked the road with lanes, maybe for the first time, the people of Shkodra were forbidden to ride bicycles.
In addition, the municipality, together with the greenery specialists, must find a solution on how to avoid the accidents of the citizens caused by the flowers themselves.
