An escaped prisoner and the officer who allegedly helped him leave together had a “special relationship,” investigators in the United States said today.
The announcement was made by the Alabama sheriff’s office along with the release of the latest footage when Officer Vicky White just accompanies Casey White murder inmate in the car, and they disappear together.
Officials did not say whether their relationship was romantic in nature.
An extensive search operation has already begun for the 38-year-old fugitive and his suspected accomplice, 56-year-old officer White (same surnames do not indicate tribal ties).
The pair disappeared while she was transporting him to a questionable meeting for mental evaluation.
Surprisingly, they disappeared on Friday when it was supposed to be the last day of work of the woman, who had sold her house and told her colleagues that she would spend “more time on the beach”.
Police believe Ms. White orchestrated the entire escape starting with escorting only prisoner Casey White and then with the questionable medical appointment.
“Lauderdale County Jail investigators said there was a special relationship between Officer White and inmate Casey White,” said Sheriff Rick Singleton.
They added that the pair had recently been seen driving a brown ‘Ford Edge’ car with Alabama license plates.
The announcement also included nicknames for Officer White – April Davis and Renee Marie Maxwell. They added that Casey White should be considered “armed and dangerous”.
Casey White is charged in late 2020 with the murder of 58-year-old Connie while he was previously convicted of car theft and police pursuit.
The trial against him has not ended, as he has been declared mentally unstable.
A woman who allegedly tried to kill White during a robbery told the network ABC WAAY 31 that she is terrified that he will try to find her.
As Vicki’s ex-mother-in-law told Daily Mail that the officer is a “loved one” who would never help a prisoner escape.
“I do not understand how she ran away with a man who is a murderer,” 88-year-old Frances White told the media.
